Waiting on Wednesday: Sorrow's Knot by Erin Bow

'Waiting on Wednesday' is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where we pick the book we just can't wait to get our hands on next.

Check out this week's pick after the jump!

Sorrow's Knot by Erin Bow

Synopsis from Goodreads: In the world of Sorrow’s Knot, the dead do not rest easy. Every patch of shadow might be home to something hungry and nearly invisible, something deadly. The dead can only be repelled or destroyed with magically knotted cords and yarns. The women who tie these knots are called binders.

Otter is the daughter of Willow, a binder of great power. She’s a proud and privileged girl who takes it for granted that she will be a binder some day herself. But when Willow’s power begins to turn inward and tear her apart, Otter finds herself trapped with a responsibility she’s not ready for, and a power she no longer wants.

We've read several incredibly complimentary reviews of Sorrow's Knot, it sounds like an amazing fantasy YA novel and we can't wait to get our hands on it!

Sorrow's Knot is released on October 29th in the UK and is published by Arthur A. Levine Books.

So what are you waiting on this week? Link us up in the comments!

  1. I was greatly reminded of the greats of fantasy whose stories have a fable-like quality: Charles De Lint, Terri Windling.... the authors that can make a simple world seem like a fairy tale that had yet to be told. Highest recommendation for all ages.
